Operation Christmas Card 2007: The Reject Pile

First let me say: I immerse myself in the last-minute design, printing, assembly, and mailing of our annual Christmas card for two measly days and certain celebrity little sisters turn up pregnant??? Surely, it happened because I wasn't paying attention.

At any rate, I'll wait a few days to unveil the final design, which features many dewy, angelic, luminous, serene photos of my children. In the meantime, here are some rejected card designs that give a fuller, perhaps more journalistic depiction of the year that was 2007:

Oooh, I love these best. Seriously. Who wouldn't love the peace on earth one?

(My kids want to know why JL is having a baby when she's a 'high schooler'. Dear lord, I have questions too.

Sad, sad.)

Melanie...dear.

Clearly, you have been hiding the "Peace on Earth" card from me. You KNEW I would insist that this be our official card.

You gave me a lie for Christmas.

Ruh-roh. Someone is going to get McSpanked.

These are all fantastic! I LOVE the "sleep in heavenly peace" pic of your son. It's just too much cute. The snake one is freaking me out.

So, did you go with the snake one?

I am partial to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, though Peace on Earth is a close second.

And those pink sunglasses are divine!

That Sleep in Heavenly Peace should totally go in the card.

I am thinking you shouldn't settle on one of the perfect cards. These are wonderful! I am especially partial to Peace on Earth.

I vote for the rokk your face card. What program do you use to make these cards? They are great.

I'm with Nora Bee. I'd love to have my face rokked any ol' time.

All: These cards are all about Keeping It Real, and I'm not sure my mailing list can handle the truth.

Spouse: I'm sorry. We are not sending that out, despite it's blurry, Sasquatch-pushing-his-brother charms.

Nora: It's just my old friend Photoshop, spinner of lies and enabler of tomfoolery.
