Après-Swim

post swim

almost slack-jawed

feeties

The children, wet-headed and cool-skinned, wrapped in dry clothes but still smelling faintly of baby sunscreen and damp leaves, are languid on the couch after a long, sunny day in the wading pool. They are silent, their limbs loose and still, as they slump together, glassy-eyed, in front of a cartoon. They are bone-tired. Is there an exhaustion nicer, a pleasure lazier than the kind that comes after being in water and sunshine for hours?

Bliss.

(On second thought, Summer, this might work out after all.)

wet heads

For lovely Stacy's project, Attitude of Gratitude, which is way better than my usual Attitude of Slight Suckitude project.

My kids have always loved the water; I love the afterglow.

{They are gorgeous.}

There's nothing better than bone-tired catatonic children, no?

Cute little people you have there.

I love that look of exhaustion--they look completely (to borrow an English word I love) knackered.

So sweet.

That's adorable. Summer does have its advantages.

Beautiful children - sitting so close they could be stuck together.

We always rent a house with a pool for our annual holiday for this very reason!

I love summer and the pool! They look like they are just about to fall asleep. And then you can take a nap too. Could life BE any better?

They look so cute and vegetal! I love it when kids are like that - calm, quiet and biddable.

Then they get their second wind and all heck breaks loose.

Pretty babies you've got there. They must get it from their Mama.

I swear those kiddos get cuter with every single photo.

Positively edible, those babes. I *myself* love being bone tired and slack jawed in front of the tube myself! Our pool just opened last weekend and even though it is a little frosty we were all over it.

Absolutely adorable. And there is simply nothing better than well-earned exhaustion in your kids. Especially if it coincides with you having a book you've wanted to read for a while and a good cup of coffee/tea/wine.

Those faces are paintable - by someone else with talent mind you, not me. SO precious. Almost makes me miss those sweet, summer days with tiny kidlets. Enjoy!!

Those children are too frickin' darling. Although your daughter does have a definite kick-ass look about her...That's awesome.

You're right about that feeling; I can't wait to have it this summer.
