Bedtime Concerns

"Mom? I'm feeling scared of myself. I'm feeling too scared in here."

"OK, let me tuck you in again."

"I need you to leave the door open for the light. The light would maybe help."

"Sure. I'll leave the door open a little, but stay in bed, OK?"

"Yeah. And...and...then I'll be able to hear you if you're eating candy."

"Deal."

One day you'll be like me--you're kids will turn off your light and close your door--then go back downstairs and stay up for 4 more hours.

I love jenn's comment.

And I love that she said she was scared of herself.

That is funny!

You candy muncher you. I'd have trouble sleeping if I thought someone was going to get into my stash too.

I'd feel better hearing you crunch down on that candy too. It would be so soothing to hear you chew.

Ah the soothing lullaby of candy munching... I wonder if thats the basis of vision of sugarplums dancing in their heads?

Ahh, I remember the days of twisting that candy wrapper open, little by little, as slowly as possible and sure enough, just as soon as you almost had it out, "mom? what's that sound?" Shit, caught again.

Good times:)

Sometimes I am too scared of myself to sleep, too.

One of the classic kid stories about me is the time I got out of bed and caught my parents eating a giant plate of homemade nachos.

I stomped my foot, and exclaimed, "You guys eat ALWAYS eat ALL the good stuff while we have to sleep!"

So, yeah, I can hear you eating you that candy!

Too funny. Smart.

I love being a grown-up and getting away with stuff after bedtime. The only sound I heard as a child was the clink clink clinking of the ice in a fresh martini. I much prefer the crisp plastic tearing of a baby ruth.

That's so cute! My boys have started hiding "the good stuff" from my dh. Nothing lasts in our house, but especially not candy.

I always feel better when I hear people eating candy. And also? I'm often afraid of myself.

No way.

Laura is busy guarding her homemade pumpkin pie. She doles out my share in slivers, slivers I tell you!
