Sketptical Butterfly, Cheesy Dalmatian
Alternate title: "As Ellie considered the long-term ramifications of posing for her mother in a foam novelty hat, her brother said, simply, cheeeeeeese."

Please don't take this the wrong way (i.e., as anything but humorous), Melanie, but Ellie's expression in that picture reminds me of Gary Coleman's "What you talking 'bout, Willis?" expression from "Different Strokes." Not that wearing a silly foam hat could lead to a life of crime and bad reality TV shows, but considering she also lives in a house with wood paneling... and there were those Little Eddie pics, too.... Just sayin'... ; )

Her brother had the right idea. Of course, he is young and innocent and not yet cynical about foamy hats like your daughter is. She's thinking: I'm not going to smile with this stupid thing on my head!

She certainly looks suspicious.

"Ellie sat perfectly still not knowing if the butterfly meant harm or just needed a rest. Her brother was oblivious to the danger"

Oh my, oh my, oh my. How much do you charge her out for photoshoots? I need to start saving.

I fear that this moment may come back to haunt you. Perhaps in a tell-all reality series, ala Tori Spelling?
But still. She is so stinkin' cute, as is her brother :)

Do you not feel this one photo is potentially a statement of their essential life philosophies? Wary participation in goofiness + Unabashed glee & absurdity.

Gorgeous.
